The Electric Bus

It’s a new day in the world of public school transportation as the fleet has been switched over to electric powered buses. Everything has been working out wonderfully except for ongoing issues with bus 118. Not every day, but at least once a week, bus 118 would be out on it’s run when there was a pop, a sizzling sound, the batteries fail and the bus drifts to a halt, totally dead. A tow truck would be called, a spare bus takes the students, and 118 would end up back in the shop. Week after week this would happen until one day the techs think they’ve got it figured out and send it back into service yet again. That afternoon as the teens exited the school and headed towards the lot a student looked up in disgust at 118 and began to walk home. His friends asked what he was doing and he replied: “I can tolerate a lot of things in my life but I refuse to ride the short bus!”
