Heat and hearing aids

I walked out and found my neighbor Bob working in his yard. He said, “It’s so hot, I think I need to go in and take off my hearing aids. That’ll give me a chance to cool off, too.” About an hour later, there’s Bob again, covered with sweat and red-faced from the heat. I said, “Bob, I am surprised you came back out since it is so hot out.” “I’m sorry,” Bob said, “I can’t understand you without my hearing aids.” So I raised my voice, saying, “I said, I am surprised you came back out since it is so hot out.” He answered, “Oh, I don’t mind the heat. I just wish I would remember not to wear my hearing aids. I get all hot and sweaty. I have to go in and dry them out. When I come back out, I get hot again. I become like deaf warmed over.”
